So Garga told me plainly, and then he went home to his own house; and I take Krsna, who does all he does without effort, to be a portion of Narayana. Hearing this word of Nanda's, which was Garga's song, the people of Vraja, who had seen and heard the power of Krsna, whose fire has no measure, were glad; their wonder left them, and they honoured Nanda, and Krsna. When the god rained, in his anger at the spoiling of his sacrifice, with bolts and hail and winds, and he saw the herdsmen and cattle and women sinking, with no refuge but himself, then in pity, and smiling, though he was only a child, he tore up the hill with one hand and held it as if in play, the way one holds a mushroom, and so saved the cow-station: he who broke great Indra's pride. May he be pleased with us, the Indra of the cows.
