On the eleventh day Nanda took no food and worshipped Janardana, and on the twelfth he went down into the water of the Kalindi to bathe. A servant of Varuna, a demon, took hold of him and carried him off to his master, because he had gone into the water at night, not knowing it was the hour that belongs to demons. Not seeing him, the cowherds cried out, Krsna! Rama! And the Bhagavan, hearing that his father had been carried off by Varuna, went there, king, the mighty one, who gives his own people freedom from fear.
