Seeing the women of Vraja come near him, the Bhagavan, the best of all who speak, spoke, and bewildered them with the turns of his words. Bhagavan said: Welcome to you, greatly favoured ones. What can I do that would please you? Is all well in Vraja? Tell me why you have come. This night is fearful to look at, and fearful creatures move about in it. Go back to Vraja. Women should not stay here, slender-waisted ones. Your mothers and fathers, your sons, your brothers and your husbands are searching for you and do not find you. Do not put your own people in fear. You have seen the wood in flower, painted with the rays of the lord of the full moon, made lovely by the leaves of the trees shaken in the play of the wind off the Yamuna.

So go to the cow-station, do not delay. Wait on your husbands, true women that you are. The calves are crying, and the children: give them milk, do the milking.
