Or else you have come out of your love for me, your hearts bound to it. That is fitting in you: living creatures do love me. The highest duty of women is to serve their husband, with nothing false in it, and to do good to his kinsmen, and to bring up the children. A husband may be ill-tempered, luckless, old, dull, sick, or without money; still he is not to be left by women who want the good worlds, so long as he has not fallen into sin. For a woman of family, going with a man not her husband keeps her out of heaven, takes away her name, is worth little, is hard, brings fear, and is despised everywhere. Love for me comes from hearing, from seeing, from meditating, from praising me again and again, and not so much from being near me. So go back to your houses.
