I cannot repay you· Verses 20–22

But I, friends, do not return the love of creatures who love me, and it is so that their love may keep going, as a poor man who has got wealth and then lost it can think of nothing else, and is held fast by that. So it is with you, who for my sake have thrown off the world and the Veda and your own people: it was to keep your love going towards me, women, that I hid myself, loving you where you could not see it. Beloved ones, you should not find fault with me, your beloved, for it. I cannot repay what you have rightly done for me, you who have joined yourselves to me and are past all fault, not with the lifetime of the gods. You loved me and cut through the chain of the house, which does not wear out easily. Let your own goodness be your repayment.
