Then once Govinda, and Rama whose strength is a wonder, were playing in the wood at night, the two of them standing in the middle of the women of Vraja. The women, whose hearts were bound to them in love, sang to them sweetly; and the two were well adorned and anointed on their bodies, wearing garlands, their clothes without a stain. They were honouring the face of the night, in which the lord of the stars had risen, served by bees drunk on the scent of jasmine and by the wind off the white lotuses. The two of them sang what is auspicious to the mind and the hearing of every living being, shaping between them the swell that runs through the whole round of notes.

Hearing that song of theirs the cowherd women lost their senses, king, and did not know themselves, nor that their fine cloth was slipping and the garlands falling from their hair.
