32While the women were weeping in this way, when the sun had come up, Akrura, having done the morning rites and the rest, drove the chariot on. 33The cowherds, Nanda and the others, followed after him with their carts, taking gifts in plenty and pots filled with milk. 34And the cowherd women, having gone along behind their beloved Krsna and taken what pleasure they could in it, stood still there, waiting for a word back from the Bhagavan. 35Seeing them burning like that as he set out, the best of the Yadus comforted them with loving messages: I shall come back. 36As long as the banner could be made out, and as long as the dust of the chariot, they sent themselves after him, and they were to be seen there like figures in a painting.
37They turned back, giving up hope that Govinda would return; and free of grief they carried the days through, singing of what their beloved had done.
