I take a dream for a real thing· Verses 23–27

Bhagavan, this world of living beings is carried away by your maya, and holding to I and mine, which is a false hold, it is turned about on the roads of action. And I too wander among things that are like a dream, mighty one: self, sons, house, wife, wealth, my own people and the rest, and I am a fool who takes them for real. In things that do not last, that are not the self, that are pain, my thinking is turned the wrong way round; I take my pleasure in the pairs, I am sunk in darkness, and I do not know that you are what my self holds dear. As a man with no sense passes by water that is hidden under what grows out of it and goes off towards a mirage, so am I, with my face turned away from you.

I have no strength in me, poor in judgement as I am, to hold back a mind broken by desire and by action and dragged this way and that by the churning senses.
