Krsna takes Uddhava by the hand· Verses 1–3

।

।

।

Uddhava was the first of the Vrsnis, their counsellor, Krsna's own dear friend, a pupil of Brhaspati himself, and the best of them in understanding. To him, dearest of all and devoted to him alone, Hari the Bhagavan, who takes away the pain of those who come to him for shelter, once said this, holding his hand in his own hand. Go to Vraja, Uddhava, gentle one, and carry gladness to our parents. Set the cowherd women free from the ache of being parted from me, with messages from me.
