She was like the maya of the god, bewildering the heroes: slender-waisted, her face set off with earrings, in the bloom of youth, a jewelled girdle laid on her hips, her breasts showing, her glance half hidden behind her hair, smiling clear, her lower lip bright as a bimba fruit, her teeth reddened jasmine buds, stepping with the walk of a swan, lovely with the light of her softly ringing anklets. Seeing her, the famed heroes gathered there lost their senses, worn down by the longing she had raised in them. Under cover of the procession she was giving her own beauty to Hari; and the kings who saw her, their wits taken by that wide smile and that shy glance, dropped their weapons and fell to the ground, dazed, from elephant and chariot and horse.
