Taking this opening, king, Akrura and Krtavarman said to Satadhanvan: Why is the jewel not taken? He promised the jewel of a girl to us, and then slighted us and gave her to Krsna. Why should Satrajit not go the way his brother went? His mind split by those two, that worst of men killed Satrajit as he slept, out of greed: a sinner whose own life was already running out. While the women screamed and wailed like women with no one to protect them, he killed him as a butcher kills cattle, took the jewel and went. And Satyabhama, seeing her father killed, was given over to grief and cried out, Father, father, ah, I am killed, and fainted away.

She put the dead man into a vat of oil and went to the city named for the elephant, and burning with it she told Krsna, who knew the matter, of her father's killing. Hearing it, king, those two Lords, following the way of the world of men, wept with tears in their eyes: Ah, this is the worst thing for us.
