Carried by Suparna, who was striking the elephants with his two wings, and the elephants being struck by Garuda with his beak and his wings and his claws, they went back into the city in pain, and Naraka fought on. Seeing his own army driven off and hurt by Garuda, Bhauma struck at him with the javelin that had once turned back the thunderbolt; and struck by it he did not shake, like an elephant hit with a garland. Bhauma took up a trident to kill the Unfallen, and his effort came to nothing: before he could let it go, Hari took Naraka's head off as he stood on his elephant, with the razor-rimmed disc. With its earrings and its lovely crown for ornament it shone, fallen on the earth, blazing. Alas, alas, and Well done, said the sages and the lords of the gods, and they praised Mukunda and scattered garlands over him.
