34Paying no heed to it, the Vaidarbha, egged on by those bad kings and driven by time, mocked Sankarsana and said to him: 35You are no masters of the dice. You are cowherds who go about in the woods. It is kings who play at dice and at arrows, not the likes of you. 36Insulted like this by Rukmi and laughed at by the kings, he grew angry, lifted his club, and struck him down there in the auspicious gathering. 37He caught the Kalinga king by force at his tenth step and in his anger knocked out the teeth of the man who had laughed with them bared. 38The other kings, their arms and thighs and heads split open and their bodies wet with blood, ran away in terror, battered by Bala's club.
39When his brother-in-law Rukmi had been killed, Hari said nothing, neither that it was good nor that it was bad, king, for fear of breaking his affection for Rukmini and for Bala. 40Then, having set the bridegroom Aniruddha with his bride on a chariot, Rama and the rest, the Dasarhas, went from Bhojakata to Kusasthali, everything they came for done, and the slayer of Madhu their refuge.
