31the son of Desire, the one beauty of the worlds, dark, in tawny cloth, lotus-eyed, long-armed, his face set off by the shine of his earrings and his hair and by his smiling glance; 32playing at dice with his lovely beloved, wearing on his arms a garland of spring jasmine that had taken the saffron from her breasts where her body pressed against his, and sitting there before her. Bana looked at him and was astounded. 33The Madhava saw him come in ringed about with armed guards and troops. He lifted his heavy club and stood ready to kill, like the Ender holding his staff. 34As they crept round him on every side meaning to take him, he struck them the way the leader of a boar herd strikes dogs. Struck down, they got out of the house and ran, their heads and thighs and arms split open.
