Those whose understanding your maya has bewildered, caught up in sons and wife and house and the rest, come up and go under again, clinging on in a sea of trouble. A man who has been given this human world by the god and does not master his senses, and pays no regard to your feet, is to be pitied: he is cheating himself. A mortal who lets go of you, the self, the beloved, the Lord, for the sake of what the senses reach after, has it backwards: he eats poison and throws away what does not die. I and Brahma and the wise gods and the sages whose hearts are clean have gone to you for refuge with everything we are, to you, the self, the dearest, the Lord.

You are the cause of the world's rising, its standing and its end, even and wholly at peace, our friend, our self, our god; one, with no other, and the world's own resting place. Let us worship you, god, for release from becoming. This one is wanted by me, loved by me, a follower of mine. I have given him safety, god. Let that favour of yours be done for him, as your favour once fell on the lord of the Daityas.
