In it stood Hari's splendid inner apartments, honoured by the guardians of every station, where Tvastr had shown his own skill down to the last of it. There, among the sixteen thousand mansions that adorned the place, Narada entered one great house belonging to a wife of the son of Sura. It was held up by coral pillars set with fine beryl panels; its walls were of sapphire, and its floor gave back a light that did not dim. There were canopies made by Tvastr with strings of pearls hanging from them, and seats and couches of ivory finished with the best of jewels. It was adorned with serving women in fine clothes, gold at their throats, and with men in tunics and turbans, in good cloth and jewelled earrings.
