In that hall the fortunes of the lords of men, of the lord of the sons of Diti and of the lord of the gods shine, each of its own kind, made ready by the maker of the world; and with those the daughter of King Drupada waited on her husbands, and the king of the Kurus, his heart caught on her, burned. In it then were the thousand queens of the lord of Madhu, their feet ringing slowly and beautifully under the weight of their hips, their waists fine, their necklaces reddened by the saffron of their breasts, their splendid faces rich with swinging earrings and curls; and in that hall made by Maya, at one place in it, the son of Dharma, the overlord, ringed by his followers and his kinsmen, and by Krsna, who is his own eye,

sat on a golden seat, plainly like Maghavan himself, furnished with the fortune of the highest station and praised by the bards. There Duryodhana, full of himself and ringed by his brothers, king, wearing crown and garland, came in with his sword in his hand, flinging insults in his anger.
