What shall I say to them· Verses 30–33

What shall I say when I come to my fathers, Rama and Kesava, having simply walked out of the fighting, and they ask me what I have to say for myself? My brothers' wives will surely laugh and say to me: How was it, hero, how, that others have to tell of your want of manhood in the fight? Long-lived one, mighty one, I did this knowing dharma. A driver should guard the man on the chariot when he is in a hard place, and the man on the chariot should guard his driver. Knowing this, I carried you off from the fighting: you had been set upon by the enemy, you were senseless, and the mace had struck you down.
