Salva was striking hard with volleys of weapons. The son of Sura, whose valour never fails, pierced him with arrows, cut away his armour and his bow and his crest jewel, and broke his enemy's Saubha with the mace. Ground to powder by the mace flung from Krsna's hand, it fell into the water in a thousand pieces. Salva left it, stood on the ground, raised his own mace and ran at the Unfallen. As he came running, Krsna cut off his arm with the mace still in it, using a broad-headed arrow. Then he took up the wonderful disc, like the sun at the world's dissolving, to kill Salva, and shone like the mountain of sunrise with the sun on it.

With that same disc Hari took off the head of that great worker of illusions, earrings and crown and all, as the breaker of strongholds took Vrtra's head with the thunderbolt. Then a cry of dismay went up from the men there. When that wicked man had fallen and Saubha had been broken by the mace, drums sounded in the sky, king, beaten by the companies of gods. And Dantavakra, paying what he owed his friends, came on in fury.
