24Thinking that the teacher of the world had come for a favour to themselves, the Maithila and Srutadeva fell at the lord's feet. 25Both at once, with hands joined together, the Maithila and Srutadeva invited the Dasarha, with the brahmins, to be their guest. 26The Bhagavan, seeing what they meant, and wanting to do what would please them both, entered the house of both, and neither of them saw it. 27Great-minded Janaka, when those who had come to his own house, men whom the bad cannot reach even to hear of, had been given the best of seats and were sitting at their ease, 28with his devotion grown full, his heart leaping and his eyes clouded with tears, bowed to their feet and washed them; and that water, which makes the worlds clean,
29he carried on his head with all his household, and he worshipped those lords with scents, garlands, cloth, ornaments, incense, lamps, guest-water, cows and bulls. 30Pleasing them with sweet speech, and satisfied with the food they had taken, he said this, touching slowly and gladly the feet of Visnu that lay in his lap.
