13And here they tell this old story: how the lord of the hill, having given a boon to the demon Vrka, came into a strait. 14There was a demon named Vrka, the son of Sakuni. Ill-minded, seeing Narada on the road, he asked him which among the three gods is quickly pleased. 15Narada said: Go after the god who is lord of the hill, and you will soon have what you want. He is quickly pleased and quickly angered by a small merit and a small fault. 16Pleased with the ten-faced one and with Bana, who praised him as bards praise, he gave them lordship beyond compare, and then came into a great strait from it. 17Told this, the demon went after Hara, whose mouth is fire, at Kedara, offering into him the flesh of his own body.
18Not getting the god to show himself, on the seventh day, out of despair, he cut at his head with an axe, his hair wet from that ford.
