Salutation to you, Vasudeva; and salutation to Sankarsana, to Pradyumna, to Aniruddha; to you, the Bhagavan, salutation. To Narayana the sage, to the Person, the great self, to the lord of everything, to the everything, to the self of every being: salutation. So in Dvapara, lord of the earth, they praise the lord of the world. Now hear how it is in the Kali age too, by the rules the various manuals give. He is dark in colour and not dark in his light, and he has his limbs and lesser limbs and weapons and companions. Those of good understanding worship him with sacrifices that are mostly the praising of him aloud together.

Always to be meditated on, destroying defeat, milking out what is longed for, the ground on which the fords stand, praised by Siva and by Virinci, a refuge; you take away the pain of those who serve you, protector of all who bow, boat across the sea of becoming. Great Person, I bow to your lotus feet. You gave up the fortune of a kingdom that is very hard to give up and that the gods long for; firmest in dharma, you went to the forest at a noble word; and you ran after the deer of maya because the one you loved wanted it. Great Person, I bow to your lotus feet.
