Arjuna asked this at the head of the battle· Verses 6–8

श्रीभगवानुवाच ।एवमेतदहं पृष्टः प्रश्नं प्रश्नविदां वर ।युयुत्सुना विनशने सपत्नैरर्जुनेन वै

Bhagavan said: This same question was put to me, best of those who know how to ask, by Arjuna, who wanted to fight his rivals on the killing ground. Knowing the killing of his own kin to be a blameworthy thing and a wrongdoing, done for the sake of a kingdom, he turned back from it, saying as the world says: I am the killer, and this man is killed. Then that tiger among men, brought awake by my reasoning, spoke to me in this same way that you speak, there at the head of the battle.
