Nature holds the strands, the self does not· Verses 10–13

For a person joined to a beginningless not-knowing, the self is not to be known out of himself. So another, one who knows what is real, must be the giver of that knowledge. Between the Person and the Lord here there is no difference, not by so much as an atom. To imagine anything other than that is pointless, and knowledge is a quality of Nature. Nature is the strands held even. The strands belong to Nature and not to the self: clarity, passion and darkness, the causes of standing, of arising and of ending. Clarity is called knowledge here, passion action, darkness not-knowing. The stirring of the strands is time; and so is a thing's own nature, and so is the thread.
