29Bhagavan said: Nature and the Person — that division, bull among men, is this making by change, whose very being is the stirring of the strands. 30My maya, made of the strands, sets up dividing thoughts in many ways by the strands, dear one. What is subject to change is of three kinds: one is on the side of the self, another on the side of the gods, and the other on the side of the elements. 31Sight, the form seen, and the sun's body here in the socket: these prove one another; but the one in the sky stands of itself. The self is what is other than these, what comes first, the proving of all that is proved by its own experiencing. So it goes with the skin and the rest, with hearing and the rest, with the eye, with the tongue and the rest, with the nose and the rest, and with the thinking mind as well.
32That change which the stirring of the strands makes, born from the great principle, whose root is the ground, is I-making: threefold, the cause of delusion and division — the one of change, the dark one, and the one of the senses. 33The argument, this is, this is not, is made of not knowing the self and is fixed on the sense of difference. Though it comes to nothing, it does not stop for men whose minds have turned away from me, their own home.
