5Darkness, passion and clarity: these strands came to be out of Nature, which was stirred by me and with the Person's consent. 6From them came the thread, and the great principle joined to the thread. Then, as it changed, was born I-making, which bewilders. 7I-making is threefold: the one of change, the bright one, and the dark one. It is the cause of the subtle elements, of the senses and of the mind, and it is made of awareness and of what has none. 8The thing known was born of the dark one, which yields the subtle elements; and the senses from the bright one; and the eleven gods came from the one of change. 9Urged on by me, all these states, working together in one mass, brought forth the egg, which is my highest dwelling.
