39Best of the Kurus, these accounts of the play of Narayana, who orders the world and is the home of all that is clear, have been told you in brief. Not even the unborn one is able to tell them whole. 40For a man who wants to get across the sea of the round of birth, so very hard to cross, and who is scorched by the forest fire of many kinds of pain, there is no boat but the taking in of the taste of the accounts of the play of the Bhagavan, the best of Persons. 41This gathered Purana the sage Narayana, who never wears out, spoke long ago to Narada, and he to Krsna Dvaipayana. 42And he to me, great king: the revered Badarayana, glad, this gathering that is of the Bhagavan and of the same measure as the Veda.
43That Suta will speak it to the sages in the dwelling at Naimisa, at the long sacrifice, best of the Kurus, when Saunaka and the others have asked him.
