Verse 10

⁸Brahmin, hear what the marks of a Purana are, as the brahmin sages set them out; take your understanding to it, and follow the Veda and the teaching. ⁹The sending out of it; the sending forth after that; the keeping alive; the guarding; the intervals; the line; what the line did; the settling; the cause; and the resting place. ¹⁰Those who know it know a Purana to be a thing that carries these ten marks. Some, brahmin, make it five, by an ordering of the great and the small.
