In plain words
The cowherd girls, of what their vow asks: You who live in this world, will you not hear what we too, who look to him alone, do for our vow? We sing the feet of the Supreme One who sleeps in watchful sleep in the Sea of Milk. We shall not eat ghee; we shall not drink milk; we shall bathe early at dawn; we shall not line our eyes with kohl, nor put flowers in our hair. We shall not do what those before us did not do, nor go to him and tell cruel tales of others. With our own hands we shall give gifts to the worthy and alms to those who ask, as much as each can take. Thinking on how we may be saved, we shall do all this gladly. Take it up and heed it, girl of ours.
