In plain words
Women of bending waists, it is in vain. Upon this girl with a waist like a creeper, Kāma's arrows pour down like rain, and with her mind under that rain she withers. She grows thin herself with this distress, and the cold wind, scattering fire, roams close by her. Even when she babbles, “the Mad One who dances while his matted hair sways, tangled with serpents,” your hearts do not grasp even this much. The goat for the frenzied dance to the spirit, the liquor for the dancing: you too know nothing but delusion and distress.
Line by line
O you of bending waists! In vain. On her with creeper waist Kāma's arrow-rain pouring down, with a mind that endures it, withering, she herself grows thin, to this distress indeed the cold wind scattering fire, roaming close by; tangled with serpents, the matted hair swaying, dancing, the Mad One, even so saying, your hearts even this much do not grasp; the goat for the frenzy dance to the spirit, the liquor of the dance: you too, other than delusion and distress, you know nothing indeed.
