In plain words

Ēkampaṉ shot down those cities that roamed the sky, and on his shining Kailāsa the hill folk store up the pearls the bamboo sheds in its season. We are a busy people too: hurrying and hurrying, we have gathered pearls even from the young bamboo whose curled leaves have not yet opened. So if you go away from us, what will you gain there with your bright pearls? Tell us.

Line by line

Ēkampaṉār, who shot those cities that roamed [the sky], on shining Kailāsa hill, those hill folk, in the season, store up pearls; we, who are busy at our work, even from the young bamboo whose curled leaves are yet to unfold, have gained them, hurrying, hurrying; you going away, what is it that you gain there by shining pearls? Tell us.
