In plain words

Kanchi's Ēkampar wears the hide of the towering elephant. With a toe he pressed down until the demon's heads, all ten, and the twenty that were his hands, drooped. Then, within Kailāsa, as the demon sang, striking the strings with his hand to the rhythm, Ēkampar was glad, and gave him a sword for the hand, so that his would be a hand that strikes down.

Line by line

He who wears the hide of the towering elephant; with a toe, the demon's heads, all ten, and the twenty that were his hands, made to droop, he pressed; the rhythm striking too with his hand, as that one sang, within Kailāsa, a hand-sword so that he be one whose hand strikes down, gladly he gave, Kanchi's Ēkampar.
