In plain words

You are the word in which there is no confusion; even so, there is the way other words bewilder and fail to know your nature. Your dwelling place is the heart; even so, there is the stealth with which you hide there, so that it is stained. You are the one who does the deeds done in the world; even so, there is the nearness in which you never come near the fruit of those deeds. There is the beauty with which you become a flood in the minds of those who bow to you, seeking joy among their own. There is your nearness to those who have come to you with love, and your farness from those who have not. Day after day all these have the power to melt the very bones, and so we have come to know that for those who have seen them, the body of flesh does perish. O Lord of Oṟṟiyūr, of abiding great fame! O you who wear on your red matted hair the pure moon, which came close to it through great austerity!

Line by line

Though you are the word without confusion, those others bewildering, the way they do not know your nature, and though your dwelling place is the heart, that so that it is stained, the stealth of hiding there, and though you are the one who does the deeds done in the world, the nearness by which you do not approach the fruit of those deeds, and of those who bow to you seeking joy among their own, the beauty of becoming a flood within the mind, and nearness to those who reached you with love, and to those not so, farness: day after day since they are of a nature that melts the bones, for those who have seen them indeed, the perishing of the flesh body exists, so we have realised, O Lord of Oṟṟiyūr, of abiding great fame; great austerity having come close by, on the red matted hair, O you of the pure moon.
