Growing Old in Her Father's House

The Aśvins are the twin gods who come at dawn in their chariot, the healers. The singers of the Ṛgveda told how they came to the old and the helpless: they made old Cyavāna young again, like a chariot made new; they carried Bhujyu up out of the waters; they lifted Vandana out of the pit and made Viśpalā able to walk.

Among those they helped was Ghoṣā, a king's daughter. She lived in her father's house and grew old there, and no husband came for her.
