The Husband the Aśvins Gave

The Aśvins heard her. Another singer of the Ṛgveda, praising them for their help, remembered it among their deeds: To Ghoṣā, who lived in her father's house and was growing old, Aśvins, you gave a husband.

Ghoṣā closed her first hymn to the Aśvins by likening it to a chariot made by the Bhṛgus, a family of priests, and to a bride adorned for her groom: We have made this praise for you, Aśvins; we have shaped it as the Bhṛgus shape a chariot. We have adorned it like a bride for the groom, and keep it as one keeps a son who carries on the line.
