The Earth Given to Him
When Paraśurāma, the son of the sage Jamadagni, had emptied the earth of kṣatriyas, the warrior class, after a king's sons had killed his father, he worshipped Indra with a great sacrifice and gave the earth to the priests. To the great Kaśyapa he gave a golden altar, ten fathoms long and nine high, and with Kaśyapa's leave the brahmins divided it among themselves in pieces. And having given the earth to the great Kaśyapa, Paraśurāma went to live on Mount Mahendra.
