Marīci's Son

The sage Marīci, one of the sons of Brahmā, married Kalā, the daughter of Kardama, and she bore him Kaśyapa. Kaśyapa was the equal of Prajāpati, the lord of creatures, and many of the daughters of Dakṣa, another of Brahmā's sons, became his wives.
