In plain words

The poet, of the Lord: When Bāṇa, enraged for the sake of his daughter [Uṣā], whose garland the bees hover round, came close to fight, and his thousand arms were cut off that day, the shaven one smeared with ash [Śiva], his sons, the god of fever, Kālī and Agni all fled. Seeing it, our cowherd [Kṛṣṇa] was ashamed for them, and took pity on Bāṇa.
