The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Advaitānubhūtiḥ

Verse 33

यथा न संस्पृशेत्सूत्रं पुष्पाणामुत्तमादिता ।तथा नैकं सर्वगं मां देहानामुत्तमादिता ॥ ३१ ॥

In plain words

The flowers on a garland may be the finest, or middling, or the worst of the lot — none of that touches the thread running through them. In the same way, the ranking of bodies — best, middling, least — never touches me, the one, present through all of them.

Close to the Sanskrit

Just as the being-best-and-so-forth of flowers does not touch the thread, so the being-best-and-so-forth of bodies does not touch me, the one, the all-pervading.
