देहो नाहं प्रदृश्यत्वाद्भौतिकत्वान्न चेन्द्रियम् ।प्राणो नाहमनेकत्वान्मनो नाहं चलत्वतः ॥ ३६ ॥

The body is not me — I look at it, and it is built out of the elements. The senses are not me either, for the same two reasons. The breath is not me: it is many, and I am one. The mind is not me: it will not hold still.

The body is not I, because of being an object of perception, because of being made of the elements; and the sense-organ is not (I) either. The breath is not I, because of being many; the mind is not I, because of being in motion.
