In plain words
The pain of the body you wear in a dream never touches the body lying there asleep. In just the same way, the pain of your waking body never touches the ātman — never touches you.
Close to the Sanskrit
Pain and the rest, born of the sleep-body, would not touch the waking body; likewise pain and the rest, born of the waking body, would not touch the Self.
