जले शैत्यादिकं यद्वज्जलभानुं न संस्पृशेत् ।बुद्धेः कर्मादिकं तद्वच्चिदाभासं न संस्पृशेत् ॥ ५६ ॥

The water is cold, it ripples, it runs — and none of that ever touches the sun shining in it. In the same way, the intellect acts, decides, suffers, enjoys — and none of that ever touches the awareness reflected there.

Just as the coldness and the rest in water would not touch the sun in the water, so the action and the rest belonging to the intellect would not touch the reflection of consciousness.
