The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Bṛhadāraṇyakopaniṣadbhāṣyam

Verse 131

हस्तौ वै ग्रहः स कर्मणातिग्राहेण गृ-हीतो हस्ताभ्याँ हि कर्म करोति ॥ ८ ॥

In plain words

The hands are a grasper — seized by action itself, their own over-grasper. Because it is with the hands that we do what we do.

Close to the Sanskrit

The two hands, indeed, are a grasper; it is seized by action as the over-grasper; for by the two hands one performs action.
