स होवाच तथा नस्त्वं गौतम माप-राधास्तव च पितामहा यथेयं विद्येतः पूर्वे न कस्मिंश्चन ब्राह्मण उवास तां त्वहं तुभ्यं वक्ष्यामि को हि त्वेवं ब्रुवन्त-मर्हति प्रत्याख्यातुमिति ॥ ८ ॥
In plain words
He said: 'Don't hold this against me, Gautama, or against your own forefathers — that this knowledge has never before lived in any brahmin. But I'm going to tell it to you now. Because really, who could refuse someone who asks the way you just have?'

He said: 'You should regard us thus, O Gautama — let there be no offense held against us, nor against your forefathers — that this knowledge, before now, never dwelt with any brahmin whatsoever; but I shall tell it to you. For who indeed could bring himself to refuse one speaking thus?'
