सोऽबिभेत्तस्मादेकाकी बिभेति स हा-यमीक्षां चक्रे यन्मदन्यन्नास्ति कस्मान्नुबिभेमीति तत एवास्य भयं वीयाय क-स्माद्ध्यभेष्यद्वितीयाद्वै भयं भवति ॥ २ ॥
In plain words
He was afraid. Therefore, even now, a person who is alone is afraid. He reflected: 'Since there is nothing other than myself, what is there to fear?' And right then, his fear vanished. For why should anyone fear? Fear arises only when there is a second.

He was afraid. Therefore he, being alone, is afraid. He reflected: 'Since there is nothing other than me, of what do I fear?' From that very [realization] his fear passed away. For why should he have feared? Fear truly arises from a second.
