In plain words

'The swan will teach you the quarter,' the bull had said. The next morning, Satyakāma set the cattle moving. When evening came and they gathered together, he prepared a fire, penned the cows, placed fuel on the flame, and sat down behind the fire facing the east.

Close to the Sanskrit

The swan will speak the foot to you—he, on the morrow, set the cows going. When they arrived together in the evening, having there prepared the fire, having penned the cows, having placed fuel, behind the fire facing east he sat down.
