बलं वाव विज्ञानाद्भूयोऽपि ह शतंविज्ञानवतामेको बलवानाकम्पयते सयदा बली भवत्यथोत्थाता भवत्युत्तिष्ठ-न्परिचरिता भवति परिचरन्नुपसत्ता भ-वत्युपसीदन्द्रष्टा भवति श्रोता भवतिमन्ता भवति बोद्धा भवति कर्ताभवति विज्ञाता भवति बलेन वै पृथि-वी तिष्ठति बलेनान्तरिक्षं बलेन द्यौर्बले-न पर्वता बलेन देवमनुष्या बलेन पशव-श्च वयांसि च तृणवनस्पतयः श्वापदा-न्याकीटपतङ्गपिपीलकं बलेन लोकस्ति-ष्ठति बलमुपास्स्वेति ॥ १ ॥

Strength is indeed greater than understanding. A single strong man makes a hundred men of understanding tremble. When a person becomes strong, he rises to action; rising, he attends upon teachers; attending, he draws near; drawing near, he sees, hears, thinks, understands, acts, and knows. By strength the earth stands, by strength the atmosphere, by strength the heavens, by strength the mountains, by strength gods and humans, animals and birds, grass and trees, wild beasts down to the tiniest ant—by strength the world is sustained. Meditate upon strength.

When he becomes strong, then he becomes a riser; rising, he becomes a server; serving, he becomes an approacher; approaching, he becomes a seer, a hearer, a thinker, an understander, a doer, a knower. By strength indeed the earth stands, by strength the atmosphere, by strength heaven, by strength mountains, by strength gods and men, by strength beasts and birds, grass and trees, beasts of prey, down to worms, insects and ants; by strength the world stands.
