उदशराव आत्मानमवेक्ष्य यदात्मनोन विजानीथस्तन्मे प्रब्रूतमिति तौ होद-शरावेऽवेक्षांचक्राते तौ ह प्रजापतिरुवाचकिं पश्यथ इति तौ होचतुः सर्वमेवेदमा-वां भगव आत्मानं पश्याव आ लोमभ्यआ नखेभ्यः प्रतिरूपमिति ॥ १ ॥
In plain words
"Look at yourselves in a pan of water, and whatever you do not understand about the Self, tell me." So they both looked into the water. Prajāpati asked them, "What do you see?" They replied, "Revered teacher, we see our entire self in this reflection, right down to the very hairs of our body and the tips of our nails—an exact likeness."
Close to the Sanskrit
"Having looked at the self in a water-vessel, whatever of the self you do not understand, that to me speak." They two indeed looked into the water-vessel. To them indeed Prajāpati said: "What do you see?" They two indeed said: "All this indeed, O venerable one, our self we see, up to the hairs, up to the nails, an exact likeness."
