अथ ह वाचमुद्गीथमुपासाञ्चक्रिरे ता५हासुरा पाप्मना विविधुस्तस्मात्तयोभयवदति सत्य चानृत च पाप्मना ह्येषाविद्धा ॥ ३ ॥

Thereafter, the gods chose the breath of speech as their udgitha. But the demons pierced and tainted it with evil. That is why speech utters both truth and falsehood, for it has been wounded by evil.
