स एष नारदः सर्वातिशयं प्राणं स्वमात्मानं सर्वात्मानं श्रुत्वा नातः परमस्तीत्युपरराम, न पूर्ववत्किमस्ति भगवः प्राणाद्भूय इति पप्रच्छ यतः ।तमेवं विकारानृतब्रह्मविज्ञानेन परितुष्टमकृतार्थं परमार्थसत्यातिवादिनमात्मानं मन्यमानं योग्यं शिष्यं मिथ्याग्रहविशेषात् विप्रच्यावयन् आह भगवान्सनत्कुमारः—

Having heard that prāṇa surpasses all and is his own true Self—the Self of everything—Nārada stopped his questioning, thinking, 'There is nothing higher than this.' He did not ask as he had before, 'Is there anything greater than prāṇa, venerable sir?' Seeing him thus content with an incomplete understanding, yet unfulfilled and falsely imagining himself to be a master of the ultimate truth, the venerable Sanatkumāra spoke these words to shake his worthy disciple out of this deep misconception—

That Nārada, having heard prāṇa which excels all as his own Self, the Self of all, stopped, thinking 'There is nothing higher than this,' and did not ask as before, 'Is there anything greater than prāṇa, O Lord?' from which cessation. Seeing him thus satisfied with the knowledge of Brahman which is still a modified and unreal thing, unfulfilled, considering himself an ativādin of absolute truth, the venerable Sanatkumāra spoke, dislodging that fit disciple from his specific false grasp—
